It’s just great when I open up a stack of timber to find a ‘book-matched’ pair of timbers. I honestly think you just don’t get this level of detail when using straight grained mainland European oak. 

Unfortunately, this pair of timbers are well separated as sole plates. Even worse, these faces might have to be oriented downwards to limit deflection. 


Also contained within the recent delivery of oak was a smattering of autumnal oak leaves! Looks almost like a staged picture for some pretentious timber framing company!
