This very large free standing oak frame will be a main feature in a large Suffolk garden. The concept is to create a covered space, with minimal impact on the surrounding environment and utilising minimal plastic based building products.
The posts will be secured to simple footings and the ground below left to grass. Maybe with a small open fire in the middle, this will make an excellent outside evening space for the family and hosting.
The frame is to be primarily constructed from oak, however the rafters may be sweet chestnut. The roof will be be covered with plain tiles (or peg tiles) sat directly on sweet chestnut tile batten and no roof membrane. The lack of roof membrane will give the whole roof a authentic look from below.
